The most active draughtsman of actor prints for the publisher Watanabe was Natori Shunsen, who published a series between 1925 and 1929 in which, as in the work of Yoshikawa Kanpo from Kyoto, mica is used in the background, as also by some 18th-century artists. Another versatile artist who worked for Watanabe between 1920 and 1922 was Yamamura Koka.
