Jaune is a Belgian stencil artist and urban interventionist. His work is based on the paradox between the visible and the invisible, with rubbish collectors as protagonists. An idea that was born when he himself was in this profession. Although they perform an important public service and work in flashy fluorescent clothing, they have become almost invisible to the average citizen. In 2011, he decided to free these characters from their roles by symbolically placing them in increasingly absurd and whimsical scenarios in and around the city streets. His work always contains a message, sometimes visible and sometimes invisible. Understanding this message, however, is not Jaune's main goal; according to the artist, it all starts with a visual joke. And he finds it more important that the viewer can give his own interpretation of it.
This work was created as part of the Crystal Ship arts festival in Ostend, which each year - since 2016 - tackles a number of walls or facades.

Jaune is een Belgisch stencilkunstenaar en stedelijk interventionist. Zijn werk is gebaseerd op de paradox tussen het zichtbare en het onzichtbare, met vuilnismannen als hoofdrolspelers . Een idee dat werd geboren toen hijzelf dit beroep uitoefende. Hoewel ze een belangrijke openbare dienst uitvoeren en in opzichtige fluorescerende kleding werken, zijn zij bijna onzichtbaar worden voor de gemiddelde burger. In 2011 besloot hij deze personages uit hun rol te bevrijden door ze symbolisch te plaatsen in steeds absurdere en grilligere scenario's in en rond de straten van de stad. In zijn werk zit ook altijd wel een boodschap verwerkt, soms zichtbaar en soms onzichtbaar. Het begrijpen van deze boodschap is evenwel niet het hoofddoel van Jaune, volgens de kunstenaar begint het allemaal met een visueel grapje. En hij vind het belangrijker dat de kijker daar zijn eigen interpretatie aan kan geven.
Dit werk is gerealiseerd in het kader van het Crystal Ship kunstenfestival in Oostende, waarbij elk jaar – sinds 2016 – een aantal muren of gevels worden aangepakt.

Jaune est un stencil artist et un intervenant urbain belge. Son travail est basé sur le paradoxe entre le visible et l'invisible, avec pour protagonistes des éboueurs. Une idée qui est née lorsqu'il exerçait lui-même cette profession. Bien qu'ils assurent un service public important et qu'ils travaillent dans des vêtements fluorescents flashy, ils sont devenus presque invisibles pour le citoyen moyen. En 2011, il a décidé de libérer ces personnages de leurs rôles en les plaçant symboliquement dans des scénarios de plus en plus absurdes et fantaisistes dans les rues de la ville et aux alentours. Son travail contient toujours un message, parfois visible et parfois invisible. Comprendre ce message n'est cependant pas le but principal de Jaune ; selon l'artiste, tout commence par une blague visuelle. Et il le trouve plus important que le spectateur puisse en donner sa propre interprétation.
Cette œuvre a été créée dans le cadre du festival artistique Crystal Ship à Ostende, qui attaque chaque année - depuis 2016 - un certain nombre de murs ou de façades.
