Compound eyes of Horse fly - Tabanus sp.

Last weekend I spent at my grandparents garden. I was looking for spiders, bugs and different creatures. I saw some amazing insects, but I wasn't able to take a shot of them because they were too fast for me... :(

 

Finally my dream come out and I bought new Pentax 28mm lens. I'm pretty happy with the results I got, of course it's extremely difficult to use it. Most of my shots were out of focus, but it was first time when I was using it, so I need a little bit more time to understand how that lens works...

This image is focus stacked of 8 images taken at F8 or F5.6 (I can't remember) with a Pentax 28mm lens reversed on the bellows and some extension tubes...

 

Horse flies are really interesting creatures, different species have different compound eyes with beautiful weaves of colors and strange head shapes...
