Birds Eye View

2nd quarter.

Media: Bird cage, clay, black and white string, news paper, lithe film, pebbles, table.

This bird cage represents shelter, in the most ambiguous sense of the word. There is no roof on the cage to obstruct the birds escape, however they are tied down. They can see the open sky, but shall never be a part of it. A sense of irony is afforded to the birds who are not tied down, but shall not escape because of their connection to the other birds. We find shelter in places, but we find comfort in each other. If the lone bird that is not tied down was to fly away, he would be alone in the world, and would not feel sheltered in any way.
