Abri du Kaiser Guillaume II à Bosmont sur Serre - Aisne
Cet abri souterrain était destiné à protéger l’empereur Guillaume II d’éventuelles attaques aériennes lorsque celui-ci arrivait à Bosmont à bord de son train spécial pour séjourner au château et suivre l’offensive allemande du printemps 1918.
Les deux entrées bétonnées, cachées de l’aviation par des pommiers, permettaient d’accéder à une pièce souterraine rectangulaire d’environ 25 m2.
Les parois intérieures sol et plafond étaient constituées de traverses en chêne tangentes.
Le toit de cet abri était composé de trois rangées de rails superposées et de traverses de chemin de fer avec intervalles ’isolement en terre et en parpaings de ciment recouverts d’environ un mètre de terre.
Au dessus, on trouvait des rouleaux de barbelés
This underground shelter was designed to protect Kaiser Wilhelm II from air attack when he arrived at Bosmont on his special train to stay at the castle and follow the German offensive in the spring of 1918.
The two concrete entrances, hidden from the air by apple trees, led to a rectangular underground room measuring around 25 m2.
The interior walls, floor and ceiling were made of tangent oak beams.
The roof of this shelter consisted of three superimposed rows of rails and railroad sleepers, with insulating gaps of earth and cement blocks covered with about a metre of earth.
On top were rolls of barbed wire.
