Lisa Lovingtree says:
This is a superb shot of a very hard-to-capture hummer. My husband and I put out 8 quart-size feeders on a DAILY basis, and in July, the Rufous come. These amazing birds migrate thousands of miles from Mexico to Canada and back, passing thru Colorado in mid-July. These little guys are maniacs, and very aggressively try to dominate the feeders, chasing away our resident broadtail hummers. They are gorgeous, with their brilliant copper feathers shining in the sun.
