X-Pilot is Kent's Classic Pilot Vessel and Project Redsand's official supply vessel for the WWII Maunsell Forts.

X-Pilot trips leave from Isle of Sheppey but you can also visit the towers via a barge sailing from from Whitstable

Redsand Fort is one of the Maunsell Forts (named after designer, British Engineer Guy Maunsell) constructed in 1942 as part of Thames Estuary Defence network during World War 11 to deter and report German air raids and prevent attempts to lay mines

There are seven towers in the Redsands group at the mouth of the Thames Estuary. Originally there were 3 sets of these forts but only 2 now remain, Redsand and Shivering Sands . In 2003 Project Redsand was formed to protect and preserve the fort.
