Eastern Whipbird

This bird slipped across the track in front of me and I crept up to see it flop down in a sunny patch for a sunbake.

I managed to slowly get around the obstructing vegetation for a few shots.

Here it is alerted by the shutter noise. It slowly lowered its head again as though it was slipping into a torpor.

When it got sick of me it went into deeper cover and proceeded to preen.
