Black-capped Chickadee playing with food

We were walking on a trail along the marsh and suddenly were surrounded by a group of chickadees. They followed us around until we realized, that may be they want something from us! I reached into my pocket and found only a small pecan chip left from feeding a squirrel a few days ago. I stretched out my hand with this small offering and felt tiny feet on my finger... It was incredible! We didn't have any more food except an apple. They tried it, but didn't like it, so I felt very bad that the birds left disappointed :(

We continued our walk and found a handful of bird food left on a log. My companion took a few seeds and nuts and offered it to the chickadees. When I was taking this shot another chickadee was sitting on a hood of my lens

I have to tell you, that is not an accident that this bird dropped the food. These chickadees are spoiled rotten :) They were looking for something we didn't have.
