another curiosity from 1967---stanier 8f 2-8-0 48272 on shed at northwich--but just look at the rivetted patches on the smokebox--I can scarcely believe that a main works did a repair job like this and northwich would be unlikely to have the appropriate facilities. Also by this late stage in the days of steam ,most locos' were consigned to the cutter's torch once repairs became due--so we have a little mystery--who patched-up the smokebox and when?
