seen running into bewdley is great western 2-8-0 2857, these locomotives designed by g j churchward were the forerunners of the 38xx locomotives by his successor c b collett shown in the last picture---it is interesting to compare this loco with that of the previous picture--most noticeable differences are the larger motion bracket extending to the boiler ,just behind the cylinders and open cab , which I think give it the gaunt chuchward look which is absent in the later collett locomotives
