In this view to the northwest the Hayward Fault is located beneath (or is close to): Highway 13 (at bottom center of image), Lake Temescal, Highway 24 (near bottom of image), the Claremont Hotel (large white building in center foreground), the University of California, Berkeley campus, including the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (in center-midground), Albany, El Cerrito, Richmond, San Pablo and Point Pinole (in the distance), extending into San Pablo Bay. From there, the fault extends beneath the bay a bit, to where it has a large right step and becomes the Rodgers Creek Fault; the Rodgers Creek Fault extends northwestward to Santa Rosa.
