Bandhavgargh, Madhya Pradesh. Rural Indian women do a surprising amount of hard physical labour in the hot sun, from before dawn to late at night. These women and colleagues were doing hard construction labour at the site of new road building. Their colourful and delicate traditional dress seemed to jar with the dirty sweaty work, but they seemed happy enough and engaged in friendly banter with me. They were also at ease with being photographed.
