Los gorriones son los niños del aire, la chiquillería de los arrabales, plazas y plazuelas del espacio. Son el pueblo pobre, la masa trabajadora que ha de resolver a diario de un modo heroico el problema de la existencia. Su lucha por existir en la luz, por llenar de píos y revuelos el silencio torvo del mundo, es una lucha alegre, decidida, irrenunciable.
