PIANO KEYBOARD MANIA!!!

Another sleepless night, another adventure...this time, piano mania!!!

I have been a bad student. I haven't practiced or played in such a long time, like a ridiculously long time, so I sat down, or rather I stood up because I couldn't find my chair, and tried to remember how to play some songs. At first it was awful and I couldn't remember notes and things so I was banging around on the keys and swearing a lot (kind of how I feel about math in general), and then slowly after a few runs, some things started to come back.

This song or my mutilation of it, has special meaning because the first time I ever took classes or learned to play any piano was in college. I took piano 101 (it was literally called that) in the music department and the class was set up like this: there were like 20 keyboards all hooked up to the teachers keyboard, and we would wear headphones in class that linked us all to each other or she could just link to an individual and no one else could hear each other but the two of you. The only thing about that, is there was no audio cue to let you know she was listening in to you specifically, so you'd be practicing something and then you'd boom, hear her voice right in your ear..which if you can imagine...is kind of creepy. She wasn't a creeper though, she was a very nice Asian lady, a student of music I believe as well.

Well, anyway, I got bored just playing the scales and things so I would often go off and learn things on my own and just randomly be practicing them at the start of class instead of the prepared lesson, so here I was banging away at this and all of a sudden after the entire song was done, she was like...oooohhhh, nice work. You missed this key and that and your change over needs work, but keep practicing. I looked up suddenly like OMG, I had no idea you were listening in! She just smiled though and said, okay, now back to the lesson at hand.

I totally miss that class. My best friend took it with me along with our other high school friend, and we would cut up every single class and made sure we sat in the back so we could do so...We made it a point that when one of us was being specifically listened to we would stare at each other and try to make the other laugh or crack with all sorts of obsenity because we knew the other couldn't do anything because the teacher could hear them on audio as well as their piano. Sooo many priceless moments!
