Typically today is my day off, but whoo hoo (sarcasm), another event I had to work, so wasn't really excited for Friday, especially after I woke up with chest pains. At first I thought, oh, maybe just a little heart burn. I don't get it often, but I've had it a couple of times and it sucks, but this was much worse. I woke up and immediately on my left side (oh crap) I had stabbing chest pain. When I tried to roll up to sit up I literally lost my breath. So I'm in full on "I'M GOING TO DIE," mode. I'm clutching my chest Sanford and Son style and thinking this is the big one. The pain was intense.
So here comes the ironic part. I have had every ENT infection there is...laryingitis, tonsillitus, bronchitus, strep throat, all manner of cold, you name it, I've had it, and repeatedly. Its become this part of my life and I'm terrified one day I'll get pnemonia and croak because I do get sick so often...which brings me to the pain in my chest. Turns out its pleurisy. I know, what the hell is that?!? I'd never heard of it, and I thought since I've had it all, I knew it all, but its an infection of the lining of the lung, or more accurately the pleura which is the sac around the lungs and it mimicks the pain associated with heart attacks. It makes it hard to breath and sends shooting pains to your affected side.
So, great, awesome, not a heart attack, but its going to be at least a week until this subsides or I'll need to see the doc again. This made working the event a nightmare. I was so uncomfortable. Every movement, I was trying to suck in air as if through a straw. Sleeping didn't happen either. The moment I laid down, I had to pop back up because I couldn't breath. Its bad.
I'm supposed to be on bed rest, but that just seems to make everything worse. Plus I have a shoot tomorrow I have been coveting for a while and I don't want to miss it because its going to be raining the next weekend. Ugh! Code Blue!
