A nanotube is a long, cylindrical carbon structure consisting of hexagonal graphite molecule s attached at the edges.

 

Today it was all about nanotechnology so we had the kids contruct a massive nanotube out of balloons to illustrate what a nanotube looks like when magnified. Nanotechnology is amazing. One example of this is stain resistant clothing, but there are so many new discoveries; researchers are just beginning to fully scratch the surface of what these things can really do.
