2018 Thru Runners Tour
On October 20, 2018 a special charity rail tour from Sydney to Goulburn NSW was conducted, featuring the mighty Victorian C class locos which are celebrating 40 years of service, and 30 years of thru (over the border)running from Melbourne to Sydney.
Although there have been odd examples of a C class working out of Sydney Central in the past, in tandem with other mainline classes, this was the very first dedicated double-C class hauled passenger train out of Sydney Central.
After departure from Sydney in pleasant spring weather, the train was to meet nature's wrath soon after arrival at Goulburn, as numerous severe electric storm hit the town and drenched many fans.
The tour was organised and co-ordinated by legendary engineman and C class fan, Kevin Schulz
C504-C507=8L69 are seen at Bargo, Mittagong and Tallong.
Another four C class were put on display at Goulburn station, they being C501-C502-C503-C508. Four days later C504-C507 picked up dead C501 at Goulburn and headed south, light engine to Cootamundra.
