B61-CLP10 Classic Australian Streamliners
One of the first EMD streamliners built in Australia B61, is seen shunting the very last EMD streamliner built anywhere in the world, CLP10 in Goulburn NSW on December 22, 2018
The ex-Victorian B class, in it's special Streamliners 2016 festival livery, was about to haul the long retired ex-Commonwealth Railway loco to Cootamundra for restoration and recommissioning as a working museum. CLP10 was built as CL17, the last of 17 locos in the class, before many years later being rebuilt by Morris-Knudsen, and having head end power (thus the P in the number) installed to power passenger train's aircon and lighting. It's original number was changed at this time, as the locos were not converted in sequential order at the time.
It's preservation was brought about after a fundraising effort organised by "Mr Streamliner" himself, Bernie Baker, of industry and television fame. Something I was only too happy to donate to.
B61 is owned and still operated regularly by Southern Shorthaul Railroad, a company which has a strong connection with classic and vintage locos.
