How I wish I were a kid !
Hi Everybody,
As you see above is a collage of shots I took on Tuesday night from the rooftop of my house as some folks were celebrating the Islamic festival of “Eid al-Adh’haa”. The camera’s outofocus function is not working and with a broken tripod and with no shutter release cable I had no choice but to do it manually with the camera in my hands. You know it is not easy to shoot moving objects at night especially with the decisive moment for each colorful bang of the firecrackers being hard to predict. I didn’t want to waste time trying some techniques like sequential shooting or bracketing as I was already missing shots. In order to avoid blurry results I set the ISO to the highest level (to reduce the time gap the sensor needs to record one frame and the next) while leaning against a wall to reduce camera shake to minimum. Following the trail of each banger rocketing to the sky, it was a real fun to guess the exact moment as when the next “peaceful explosion” was to take place (in a matter of a second)…that was the job of the brain and it was nice to be able to capture some of the fireworks…I’m not saying that the above shots are very good for I know that they are weak and probably so weak compared to so many amazing fireworks captured by many professional photographers but I’m happy that my first attempt was not that bad…
What was lovelier yet was to hear the kids in my neighborhood happily shouting “Haayyyyyyyyy” after each colorful bang… I was moved by the fact that the simplest things in life could make them happy…how I wish I were a kid! What about you?
