Villa Epecuén, Argentina.
Villa Epecuén fue un pueblo turístico argentino, localizado en la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina, construido a orillas del lago Epecuén, con un nivel de sal 10 veces mayor a la del océano.
En 1985 una inundación provocada por una creciente del
lago, rompió el dique que protegía la villa, y el agua comenzó a inundar todo el lugar.
Para el año 1993, el nivel del agua alcanzaba los 10 metros.
25 años después, el agua comenzó a retroceder, y las ruinas de la villa comenzaron a resurgir.
Villa Epecuén was a tourist village located in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina.
Built in the shores of Lago Epecuén, a lake with salt levels 10 times higher than the ocean's.
On November 1985, long lasting wet weather conditions caused the enormous volume of water to break through the rock and earth dam and inundated much of the town under four feet (1.2 meters) of water. By 1993, the slow-growing flood consumed the town until it was covered in 10 meters of salt water.
Nearly 25 years later, the waters began to recede. The ruins of Villa Epecuen started coming back to the surface.
