The Martello Tower

This sturdy looking building was originally built to keep the French out of Britain! There are several Martello Towers along the coast, and they were designed in the 19th Century to repel an invasion by Napoleon.

 

These days most of them have more mundane uses. This one has become a holiday home. I wonder if any French tourists have stayed here.
