room with a view......
taken from a third floor juliet balcony of hotel Ambos Mundos, offering a fabulous view of the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales ( now the Museo de la Ciudad / City Museum ). The open rooftop restaurant of the Ambos Mundos has one of the best views possible of all of Habana Vieja, the harbour & the eastern townships. Which more than makes up for the fact that breakfast food served was not so good. But hey, nobody goes to Cuba for the food. *~*Ernest Hemingway lived in the Ambos Mundos hotel, his first residence in Cuba, from 1932-1939. He chose it because of its privileged view of the old city. His room, 511, where he wrote 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' is now a mini-museum.
