Sibton Village Sign, Suffolk
Sibton is set in rolling arable and woodland on the South side of the Yox valley in West Suffolk, 5 miles South of Halesworth and 4 miles North of Saxmundham. It is immediately East of Peasenhall, on the Roman road that is now the A1120.
The village sign shows two monks, a reminder of the Cistercian Abbey that was built in the village by William de Chesney in 1150. Today the remains of the abbey are on private land but can clearly be seen from the road side.
