View from the Control Tower, Seething

A view across Seething Airfield, Norfolk from inside the Control Tower. The photo was taken during the 2011 Air Charity Day. The American Flag is flying at half mast in remembrance of all those that dies on September 11th, ten years ago today.

 

The USAAF 448th Bomb Group were based at Station 146 Seething, Norfolk, UK, and were part of the 20th Combat Wing 2nd Air Division, 8th USAAF.

A collection of memorabilia - photographs, personal stories and diaries - are maintained in Seething

to commemorate the men and machines of this period of world history.

 

There were four squadrons based at Seething. 712th - 713th - 714th - 715th, and several other support units needed to keep the B24 Liberators and their crew flying.

 

The 448th flew 262 missions from December 22nd 1943 to April 25th 1945
