East Window and Chancel, Dunwich St James, Suffolk

All Saints Church in Dunwich closed in 1778 and fell over the cliffs between 1904 and 1919. For nearly 60 years Dunwich was without a parish church. St James' Church was built in 1830 to provide a place of worship.

The design was a simple white brick church in the classical style, with a low tower with a domed top. A change of taste led the local Victorians altering the church in 1845. The walls were clad with flint, arched windows were introduced and a square tower replaced the dome. The chancel was added in 1881.
