Blue Morpho Butterfly

The Blue Morpho is a large butterfly with a wingspan of 15cm (6 inches). It feeds on rotting fruit and can live for many weeks.

 

Morphos are native to Central and South America and the bright blue flashes of their wings have been spotted by helicopters flying over the forest.
