White-cheeked Turaco

These birds live in mountain forests in flocks of up to 12 and tend to perch out of sight.

White-cheeked Turacos can be recognised by their green cheeks, small white spots under their red-ringed eyes and orange beaks. Unlike other birds their green colouring is from copper in their diet rather than being formed from blue and yellow pigments.

All Turaco species aid seed dispersal in their native habitat as their rate of digestion is rapid. They can, therefore, be considered vital for a rainforest's survivial.
