Crested Wood Partridge
Males (as in this picture) have shiny blue plumage with a red Mohican crest. Females are an olive green. They live in tropical lowland forests using their feet to probe the forest floor for seeds, fruits, vegetation, and insects.
The partridge burrows into the forest debris to make a nest. During incubation the female's colour makes her easily visible to predators so she covers herself in dust and leaves for camouflage.
