Stoup, St Mary's Church, Haddiscoe, Suffolk
The Holy Water Stoup at St Mary's, Haddiscoe. Located near the entrance stoups would have contained Holy Water for churchgoers to make the sign of the cross using the the holy water upon entrance and exit. Many were filled in or destroyed during the Reformation.
St Mary's at Haddiscoe was started during the Saxon period with additions and changes made over the next few Centuries. The base of the tower is Saxon, the upper parts are Norman and the chequerboard top part is of 15th Century date.
