Making peg rugs in the 1910's village

In the Pit Village you can see how families in the coal-mining communities in the North East used to live in the early 1900s.

 

Colliery houses and coal were provided free to miners. This row of pit cottages was moved to Beamish from Hetton-le-Hole, on Wearside.
