0-4-0ST No.18 'The Lewin' comes back into the shed out of the rain, Beamish Museum
No.18 was built in 1877 by Stephen Lewin & Co. of Poole, Dorset. It is a classic 19th century shunting engine and is unique in design.
No.18 was supplied for use at Seaham Harbour and worked there for 93 years, being retired in 1969 and stored until 1975 when it was presented to the Beamish Museum.
It’s thought that No.18 is the last surviving Lewin locomotive in existence.
