On the right is ◦Tram 196 - originally from Portugal, built to a pre-First World War design and now painted in Gateshead livery.
On the left is an ex-Blackpool Corporation tram - Sunderland 101 / Blackpool 703
This tram started life in 1934 as an open topped "Balloon" tram in Blackpool. A roof was fitted during World War II when Blackpool saw an influx of Civil Service personnel who needed transport all year round.
In 1968 240 was re-numbered 703.
