Ivan Merkulov - Soviet sniper 1943
Ivan Merkulov:August 12 1900 - April 12, 1987,
Merkulov was born in August 12, 1900 on a farm in the Stavropol area.
Merkulov joined Red Army in 1941 and graduated from the sniper school in July 1942. He fought in the Battle of Stalingrad, Donbass,the south of Ukraine and Odessa, Moldova, Romania, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Merkulov particularly distinguished himself in battle at the Dnieper.
Merkulov was awarded the Gold star of Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin.
Merkulov's rifle is the Mosin Nagant 91/30 with Alloy PU scope. These Alloy scopes have square blocks under the adjustment drums opposed to the common straight tube PU scopes
