Winn-Dixie Page

I've run out of photos to post. Last time I went anywhere to take photos was July 15. My partner in crime, Dona, has been out of commission since May. She has COPD, a progressive disease. So, I am facing the fact that my photo excursions with Dona are coming to an eventual end.

In the meantime, I will be posting snapshots of the scrapbook pages I've created from the photos I have taken over the years. If you thought my photos were lame, wait until you see my scrapbook pages! LOLOL!!

This page is an homage to Winn-Dixie, a supermarket that came to Greensboro in the sixties. My dad always shopped at Kroger. My mom prefered A&P. But, when Dad died and Mom was making do with what resources she had, she discovered that the prices for groceries at Winn-Dixie were cheaper than at either Kroger or A&P.

Well, Kroger made a deal with Harris-Teeter to leave North Carolina when Harris-Teeter purchased the Kroger stores in the state. A&P declared bankruptcy decades ago and, several years ago, Winn-Dixie left the North Carolina market. New kids on the block are Publix and Trader Joes. Neither are in Greensboro yet but in surrounding cities. They'll be here before long. That doesn't keep me, though, from missing the stores from my childhood.
