tunnel - take 897b - 7105
this was a humid slightly foggy end of winter day - another of the many of my takes of this neighbourhood tunnel I pass by so often. The main street dips and passes under train tracks next to an old train station with a clocktower. The station now very nicely renovated and used for a sort of flagship liquor store (yes, in Toronto alcohol is still only sold in special government regulated stores). The station was designed by architects Darling and Pearson and built in 1916. At that time it was located at the northern extremity of the city. The city has grown by leaps and bounds and now this is as close as midtown gets to not yet be called downtown. The tunnel though has still the same steel and concrete industrial roughness with a good dose of decay.
