Daimler of Coventry 1896 - 1966 book - Leeds City Transport Daimler Fleetline, 1960s
In 1966 Daimler Transport Vehicles of Coventry produced a lavish book to celebrate 70 years afloat. The book looks at the company's various models and operators who bought and used Daimler buses and coaches. The book is a devil to scan/photograph as it is a plastic cover and binding so apologies for the quality of the images.
Leeds nearly always supported the city's 'own' coach and body builder of Charles Roe, and they produced some fine buses as this stylish Fleetline shows - less 'boxy' than some, and smart in the two-tone green livery. Leeds were a big municipal operator, and bought from all the major chassis builders - this Daimler was on a 30ft chassi and had a Gardner engine. Startips were part of the 'Stardrops' washing up liquid empire - oh, those glass bottles with the cork tops!
