Daimler of Coventry 1896 - 1966 book - Walsall Corporation Daimler Fleetline 31, EDH 631C, Walsall town centre, 1960s

In 1966 Daimler Transport Vehicles of Coventry produced a lavish book to celebrate 70 years afloat. The book looks at the company's various models and operators who bought and used Daimler buses and coaches. The book is a devil to scan/photograph as it is a plastic cover and binding so apologies for the quality of the images.

A fine scene of one of Walsall's finest - EDH 631C, fleet number 31, which was one of many 'different' buses Walsall took into stock over the years as their General Manager (Mr Edgerley Cox) was an inveterate experimenter - this is a 'short' chassis at 27' 6", and has an unusual Northern Counties dual door bodywork, replete with white window rubbers. As a child who went shopping in Walsall in the late-60s, there never seemed to be two alike of these blue buses and Walsall/WMPTE were equally capable of various reconstructions over the years to make things even more fun. It is also a nice shot of Walsall town centre with period shops and cars!
