Samuel Ledgard's bus accident - Manor Square, Otley, West Yorkshire - 1956
Ledgard's were a famous independent local bus company in the Otley, Leeds & Bradford area for many years - famous for their purchase of many second-hand buses. This grainy press clipping from 9 March 1956 shows bus on the Otley town service to Newall coming a cropper on a fallen tree in Manor Square. The bus looks to be an ex-London Transport Daimler 'Utility. ' - Ledgard's bought various ex-London Transport wartime buses in 1953 - on the original it looks as if it may be HGF 897 which would make it a 1946 Daimler CWA6 but I daresay the knowledgeable out there might be able to confirm or otherwise.
