One of a regular issue of a booklet, for both North and South Areas, giving details of cheap travel facilities for organised parties available on the London & North Eastern Railway. As well as application forms for both 'recognised' juvenile organisations and 'unaffiliated' ones the booklet lists destinations on the LNER system that would be suitable for pleasure parties, school outings, camps and beanfest parties. To assist in this there are also listed farms and fields available for hire for such events as well as types of train carriages and catering facilities.
The cover to this, the 1931 Scottish Area issue, is I am sure by artist Hilda Cowham (1873 - 1964) a British artist, cartoonist and illustrator and this is very much in her contemporary style. Cowham was a friend to Mabel Lucie Atwell, possibly a better remembered artist, and whose work Cowham influenced. She was commissioned by London Underground for poster work during the First World War years. The cover also uses the newly adopted Gill Sans typeface that the LNER was to subsequently use as a standard typeface.
