Tipped in to the back of the second issue of "The Fleuron" are a number of "Examples of contemporary commercial work" and this includes this packings lip for sporting cartridge boxes produced by the country's largest manufacturer of explosives and ammunition, Nobel Industries. The acrtridges would have been produced at their Birmingham Kynoch works and this was also home to the company's in-house printing concern, the Kynoch Press.
The packing slips are very much in the 'house style' of Kynoch materials. The Press would continue to flourish after Nobel Industries became one of the four main constituents of ICI - Imperial Chemical Industries - that was formed by merger in 1926 and produced some fine work for both ICI and external clients.
