Artwork for Meguin AG by Otto Franz Kutscher : in Das Plakat : Sonder Heft Maschininenindustrie , März 1920 : Verlag Das Plakat : Charlottenburg 2 , Berlin, Deutschland
From the special issue in März - March 1920 of the German graphic arts magazine "Das Plakat" a series of examples of adverts for heavy industrial machinery.
The main advert shown is for the engineering concern of Meguin A.G. at Dillingen, Saar. Manufacturing machinery for use in such circumstances as gas works, collieries and for conveyor belt systems this is one of a series of adverts for them by the artist and designer Otto Franz Kutscher (1890 - 1971). This shows a briquetting plant or "Brikettpressen zur Nutzbarmachung von Kohlenabfällen, koksklein und Rauchkammerlösche.". The manufacturing and use of briquettes allowed coal dust and waste to be prepared into a cheaper form of fuel, usually for the domestic hearth.
The two smaller adverts are both by Carl Führmann Jr. and are for the massive Thyssen steel company of Mülheim an der Ruhr. They show the range of steel pipe the company was famous for producing including 'socketed' or flanged pipes and welded pipes.
