City & Royal Burgh of Edinburgh - proposed housing estate and community development at The Inch, Nether Liberton - 2 - c1945

Edinburgh City Council, in common with all other UK local authorities, played a massive role in the post-WW1 provision of social housing to help provide decent accommodation for people living in inner-city slums.

This scheme, in the south of the city at The Inch, was a relatively low density scheme developed on the 'contour line layout' of linking roads and associated housing to the nature of the terrain. It was largely constructed as planned - simply be warned, this diagram is 'faced' almost south!
