Deutscher Buch - und Steindrucker, Februar 1924 - German print industry design magazine : front cover
The wonderfully evocative front cover of the February 1924 edition of the German book, publishing & print industry magazine the "Deutscher Buch - und Steindrucker". This issue is concerned with the "Leipzig und die frühjahrs Bugramesse 1924" - the Leipzig and spring Bugramesse for 1924, the Bugra Messe being I'm sure the Bugra-Messehaus, the building that held the exhibits relating to book production and graphic design.
The cover carries the details of the typefaces used and these include Eidechse, Salamander and Koralle that were from the typefoundry of J G Schelter and Giesecke of Leipzig. The second line informs us that it is "Printed on a "Windsbrout" two-speed high-speed press from the same machine works".
The cover is a delight and rather annoyingly it does not appear to show a designer. However as Florian has noted below it may be one F. Hahn who designed the typefaces for the company.
