Blackpool Corporation Transport "Standard" tramcar 147, Fleetwood, Lancashire - August 2021

Seen during a 'heritage service' run waiting time at Fleetwood before the return to Blackpool is Standard car 147. One of a batch of similar cars constructed during the 1920s, the majority by BCT themselves but a few, including 147, constructed by Hurst, Nelson in Motherwell, Scotland, the cars originally carried the red and white livery but were repainted into the new green and cream livery during the 1930s. Like many cars they had various alterations over time, including windscreens.

147 entered service in 1924 and, like the others in the class, mostly saw service on the town's 'inland' routes. They, along with the routes they served, were gradually withdrawn into the 1950s. 147 was the last to see service in 1966 when, upon withdrawal, the car was exported to a museum in the USA. Amazingly, 147 was repatriated in 2000 and fully restored to operational condition re-entering service in 2002.
