Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG, Düsseldorf, 1930 - main works

A beautifully produced "Allegemeiner Führer" or General Guide to the United Steelworks published in 1930. Printed at their own Press the cover and title pages exhibit a very modern and contemporary approach to the typography and design.

Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG had been formed in 1926 to create a major industrial conglomeration of German coal, iron and steel producers and it included some famous concerns such as Thyssen AG, Phoenix AG für Bergbau und Hüttenbetrieb, Rheinische Stahlwerke, Rhein-Elbe-Union GmbH, Deutsch-Luxemburgische Bergwerks- und Hütten-AG, Bochumer Verein, and the Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG. Several equally famous companies declined to join, most notably Krupps, Hoescht and Mannesmann. In the post-war years the concern was broken up with several of the older concerns reappearing.

Here several aerial views of some of the company's largest concerns appear.
