Bayard Vêtements, Grenoble - publicity brochure, nd [c1935] - illustrations by Marcel Hemjic.

A fine publicity brochure for the French establishment of Bayard, tailors of Grenoble and although not dated it has such a feel of the 'thirties. It is beautifully printed by Girauld & Rivoire of Lyon and that brings out the many wonderful illustrations of mens and boys clothing shown. I had wondered if this was a 'generic brochure' that was overprinted to the requirments of different companies but the more I look at this, the more I think it may have just been for Bayard who appear to have been formed in 1925 and who, still in existence, had a chain of shops in France.

The illustration is interesting as it is by French artist and illustrator Marcel-Jacques Hemjic who produced many fashion drawings and sketches during his career. Hemjic died in 1942 although I can find little or nothing out about him. But he certainly captures the 'age' here.
