Soldans Types are up-to-date; typeface specimen prospectus leaflet issued by Soldans Ltd., London, c1950
An interesting folded leaflet issued by Soldans Ltd. printer's machinery and typeface agents of London who appear to have specialised in acting as agents of several Continental type founders, especially German concerns. The leaflets I have are mostly undated but they came with some post-WW2 items and have a certain 1950s feel but they mostly refer to pre-WW2 typefaces. That said this leaflet says "in the past ten years" and so it could be late 1930s.
On this leaflet the products of the great German concern Ludwig & Mayer loom large along with many typefaces designed by Jakob Erbar. These include the variations on the Erbar family, issued in the mid-1920s onwards, as well as various others here given their UK or export names. These include;
Sketch - possibly Skizze, Ludwig & Mayer, 1936.
Samson Script - Prägefest, 1926.
Monastic - Lichte Erbar Versalen, 1913/14.
Luminous - Erbar Medieval Lichtfelt, 1922.
Luxor - Welt-Antiqua, by Hans Wagner in 1931-4.
Others showing include Motor, designed by Karl Sommer in 1930; Allegro designed by Hans Bohm in 1936.
