See Britain from her Roads poster, overprinted for Crosville Motor Services, c1965 - market town by Royston Cooper

The series of posters issued by the combined Briitsh bus and coach operators under the banner "See Britain from her Roads" ran for a couple of decades after WW2. Not as well known as contemporary railway posters, or as they should be, they consisted of what appears to be a regular series of commissioned artworks the posters of which were overprinted or 'badged' for the individual operators, in this case the Chetser based Crosville Motor Services whose vast operating territory covered much of North Wales, west Cheshire and even into Liverpool's suburbs.

This vibrant scene of a market day, the Market Place surrounded as they often are by local public houses and dominated by a church spire, is by the well known artist and illustrator Royston Cooper (1931 - 1985). It is very much of his style of abstract work and Cooper was commissioned by several organisations such as British Railways for posters and publicity illustrations. Annoyingly no location is given. It could be a collage of sorts or it is likely to be a real location?
