"Have you forgotten anything?" - Dayton - IBM shop card - 1928
A reminder that IBM (International Business Machines) started off in a much more mundane way as the suppliers of Dayton shop equipment such as bacon slicers, coffee grinders, cash registers and weighing machines. In a way I suppose there is a link between tabulation and cash registers and the early 'computing' machinery based on punch cards, etc.
This card is a reminder of those early days - posted in London to a grocers in Hagley Road, Birmingham (UK) in 1928 to advertise Dayton IBM equipment and designed to be hung on the shop door or exit to ask "Have you forgotten anything" of purchasers. In a way it is an interesting item of the earliest history of a company whose products have shaped the world we live in.
The typeface is also interesting - as in odd - I don't recognise it.
